Recipe: Fried Chicken Livers
Introduction: Fried chicken livers are a flavorful and crispy delicacy often enjoyed as a snack or appetizer. Coated in a seasoned cornmeal crust and fried to golden perfection, they are served with a creamy dipping sauce and a slice of lemon for a tangy twist.
Ingredients:
500g chicken livers
1 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
2 eggs
1 tablespoon milk
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Lemon wedges (for serving)
Dipping sauce (optional, such as ranch or creamy garlic sauce)
Instructions:
Prepare the chicken livers: Rinse the chicken livers under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Trim any excess fat or connective tissue.
Prepare the breading: In a shallow dish, mix together the cornmeal, flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
Prepare the egg wash: In another shallow dish, whisk the eggs and milk together.
Coat the livers: Dip each chicken liver into the egg wash, then dredge it in the seasoned cornmeal mixture, pressing lightly to coat evenly.
Fry the livers: Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken livers. Fry them for 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
Drain excess oil: Once cooked, transfer the fried chicken livers to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
Serve: Serve the fried chicken livers hot with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce on the side. Enjoy!
